KRT receives Arts Council Operating Grant

Arts leaders from across the Commonwealth came to Frankfort on February 8 to celebrate Arts Day and meet with their legislators. During this time, Senator Katie Kratz Stine and Representative Thomas M. McKee presented a check to Shirley Merrill, General Manager and Barbara Browning, Board Secretary of the Kincaid Regional Theatre for their FY2006 General Operating Support Grant. Kincaid Regional Theatre was awarded $3,645 by the Kentucky Arts Council, a state agency in the Commerce Cabinet. "Kincaid Regional Theatre is a great asset to our region providing opportunities for people to enjoy the theatre experience from around the area," said Representative McKee. General Operating Support grants provide operational funding assistance on a competitive basis to arts and cultural organizations and community arts programs to ensure that year-round participation in the arts is available to people across Kentucky. The Kentucky Arts Council is a state agency in the Commerce Cabinet that invests in programs that develop vibrant communities, provide lifelong education in the arts and support arts participation. Every $1 in grant funds awarded by the Kentucky Arts Council helps grantees secure $15 in earned income and matching funds from individuals, philanthropic sources and other levels of government. Kentucky Arts Council funding is provided by the Kentucky State Legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency, which believes that a great nation deserves great art.
